Montréy'all

(Update March 1st: We've added 5 awesome players to our roster, among them 1 USA U24 player, and 2 Canadian U20/U24 players!) Hoi, Salut and Howdy Herbi, We are Montréy’all-(dressed), a vibrant and diverse team of frisbee fanatics rooted in our shared experience at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where we forged bonds that go far beyond the college Ultimate scene. Our squad is a melting pot of cultures and Ultimate experiences, featuring players from Canada, the US, Germany, New Zealand, and notably, a strong Texas connection. Our team may be young, but what we lack in age we make up for in experience, including stints at WUCCs, AUDL, PUL, and various national teams. This mix is just like an all-dressed bagel – a little bit of everything, creating a unique and flavorful combination. And we are famous for our bagels in Montreal (see the masterpiece of a video below). We're not just about high-level play; we also embrace and contribute to the tournament's vibe and ethos. We admire Windmill's commitment to sustainability and, while aware of the carbon footprint of our journey, we all plan to participate in Herbie’s Hand-Me-Downs”/Trade Night, attend Petra’s session on the Zero Waste philosophy and buy our field snacks at one of Amsterdam’s zero-waste supermarkets (https://littleplantpantry.com/). Additionally, we're excited to bring a part of our culture to the tournament – perhaps a bagel tasting showdown and a Texas-themed lasso catching game in our spirit circles! In the beginning we never expected this to work out - “surely only a handful of people will say yes”. After all, we live in different places, have busy (frisbee) lives, some are students and it’s on the other side of the Atlantic! But while many of us have played at the great official tournaments, we have never played a tournament like Windmill where everything that Ultimate Frisbee stands for comes together: a festival experience, diverse groups from all around the world, and somehow at the same time the highest level of play. It is a “bucket-list” tournament for many of us, a way to broaden our horizon beyond the competitive North American scene and see how Ultimate is played and lived around the world. So that's why it was not so hard after all to convince our friends to join. Check out our highlight video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ31KxMMuzo) to see us in action and to get a taste of our cultural and culinary uniqueness. To summarize, the important facts: - We will be one of the youngest teams at the tournament! - We bring a unique French-Canadian international bilingual vibe. - Just small selection of what we played: U24/U20 Worlds (Germany, Canada, NZ, Dominican Republic), WUCC 2022 (Mephisto, LAB, Stella, Macondo), AUDL (2*Royal, Austin Sol), PUL (3 players), Rainbow Brigade, US Nationals. - We party hard in Montreal and are ready to show those Europeans how to win the party. - We love Windmill's commitment to sustainability. We look forward to the possibility of competing, celebrating, and creating unforgettable memories at Windmill 2024. We believe we can add a unique dynamic to the tournament, both on and off the field. Warm regards from cold Montreal, Montréy'all-dressed Team P.S.: While the name Montréy’all-dressed makes for a great diversity-bagel metaphor and highlights our Montreal-Texas connection, we would appear with the catchier short name of Montéy’all on our jerseys.
